i knew to get onto one road, but not which way to turn. "do you suppose it's left or right?" "let's try left." half a mile later, "nope, it was right." two miles later, "do you suppose we turn there?" "um, let's keep going straight." half a mile later, "nope, shoulda turned back there." finally, we found the mall. almost at the same time, i alighted on a radio station that was playing the decemberists' pirate song. i was delighted, and tried to explain the song to Christina, and had plenty of time because we drove past the extensive mall lands, turned around, got into the parking lot, and started driving in a large circle around the mall, looking for the entrance with the bank. at last we got there, i made a successful deposit, and we drove to the downtown site. on the way back, Christina tried to get onto I-75 South to go back UP to the hill. "Christina, when i suggested earlier that we go to Cincinnati, i was only half serious." "oh!" so we took the surface streets all the way back, guessing on what would run into what. considering she's from Colorado Springs, Colorado and goes to school in Takoma, Washington, and i never have any clue where i'm going, it was quite impressive that we made it back at all. we had a good time.
lyrics of the week: Damien Rice's "Cannonball"
(excerpt)
Stones taught me to fly,
Love taught me to lie,
Life, it taught me to die.
So it's not hard to fall
When you float like a cannonball.
commence emo mode now.
